Freedom of movement and the right to travel are fundamental aspects of modern democracies that impact the lives of each and every citizen. Unfortunately, the transport sector is also a significant contributor to greenhouse gas emissions, accounting for almost a quarter of global emissions, and the primary cause of air pollution in urban areas. Despite this, reducing these emissions is challenging due to the potential social impact. In this conference, we will explore global strategies and obstacles for achieving carbon neutrality by 2050 for each mode of transportation.

M. Haddad will address in particular the key levers for decarbonizing transport; potential social impacts of environmental transition in transport, and to which extent we need to think in terms of energy efficiency.
